How is it made?

Academy trained Master Craftsmen in Rajasthan combine eons of traditional, inherited know-how with modern innovations and woodworking techniques to create a style of carpentry with strong, solid and smoothly finished joins as well as decorative features, built to last for generations to come, the Indian chest of drawers is able to withstand a decent weight without warp.

Sheet nickel is then brushed with a metal tool for an embossed, stipple effect and overlaid onto the sheesham wood, with steel pins seaming the interface, integrated into the decorative design.

Why use Nickel?

Nickel is tough and resists the ravages of time, much like the sheesham wood it is laid over. It can cope with fluctuations in temperature and humidity, again, like the wood it surfaces and together they make an ideal synergy for long-lasting, resilient Indian furniture. Nickel is particularly resistant to corrosion and can be cleaned up to a stunning shine after being left to discolour or water-mark.

How do I care for my white metal furniture?

Very simply, Brasso or Silvo will succeed in restoring even dull and reasonably marked or tarnished nickel to a high shine as required. You will need two soft cloths. One for applying and one for polishing. Using just a little Brasso or Silvo, rub the cloth in small circles until the liquid blackens. Leave for a minute or two and when it is nearly but not completely dry, polish with the second cloth. Polish as little or as much as you want, for a matt finish or a high shine.

Keep the metal surface fairly well dusted and you’ll reduce the frequency needed for cleaning the nickel.
